Isuzu-Cummins Partnership

ICPP Brings Diesel Technology Solutions

Isuzu Commercial Trucks of America, Inc. and Cummins Inc. joined forces to create the Isuzu Cummins Powertrain Partnership (ICPP) with one goal in mind — innovation. Formed in 2019, the ICPP aims to create opportunities to develop and bring new diesel and alternative powertrains to the market. Through this global mid-range diesel collaboration agreement, Cummins has provided Isuzu a mid-range B6.7 diesel platform to be used in Isuzu’s medium-sized trucks.

The two also partnered in an Advanced Technology Agreement to conduct joint research for numerous powertrain technologies using the companies’ advanced engineering capabilities, respectively. Both Isuzu and Cummins are dedicated to bringing customers enhanced efficiency and emissions capability with their advanced diesel products.

Isuzu and Cummins also have expanded their partnership discussion to include new power sources like electrical powertrain technologies, in an effort to become carbon neutral.

2022 F-Series: Cummins’ Engine with Isuzu’s Promise

Marking the first product to come to the global market from the ICPP, the Cummins B6.7 diesel engine will be featured in the new 2022 Isuzu F-series trucks.

The 2022 Isuzu F-series featuring the Cummins B6.7 diesel will be available to customers in two models: the Class 7 FVR (33,000 – GVWR) and the Class 6 FTR (25,950 – GVWR). The 2022 lineup also features a de-rated Class 6 FVR.

The promise and standard of superb maneuverability, visibility, and comfort will be kept in both the FVR and FTR. Both models feature a new interior design featuring dual-tone trim and seating designed to enhance comfort for passengers. This series’ great visibility is made possible by the low cab forward design and new LED headlamps, and the 50-degree inner wheel cut gives the F-series a turning diameter between 43.7-ft and 65-ft.

Both the FVR and FTR will offer a total of eight wheelbases, as well as the low cab forward’s larger cab-to-axle space, which will provide the Isuzu F-series with more cargo capacity. This series offers customers more versatility in terms of body application choices to accommodate heavier and larger cargo loads.

Cummins Powertrain Offers Reliability and Efficiency

The Cummins B6.7 is a robust powertrain that is built to provide drivers the power needed while offering fuel efficiency and the reliability drivers and business owners need.

Mated to an automatic six-speed Allison RDS Transmission, the Cummins B6.7 Powertrain has 260 horsepower and 660ft-lbs of torque, which offers drivers the highest horsepower and torque available from the Cummins B6.7. This great power increase will make the Isuzu F-Series capable of moving heavier payloads more easily over the road in between distribution centers and in urban environments.
